Description

Spritz cookies are delightful, buttery cookies that are perfect for festive occasions. They are easy to make and can be shaped into various designs using a cookie press.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Colored sugar or sprinkles for decoration (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until the dough is smooth.
  5. Fill a cookie press with the dough and press onto ungreased baking sheets in desired shapes.
  6. If desired, sprinkle colored sugar or sprinkles on top of the cookies.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • Make sure the butter is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • You can experiment with different flavors by adding almond extract or lemon zest.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
