Spritz cookies are delightful, buttery cookies that are perfect for festive occasions. They are easy to make and can be shaped into various designs using a cookie press.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Colored sugar or sprinkles for decoration (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until the dough is smooth.
- Fill a cookie press with the dough and press onto ungreased baking sheets in desired shapes.
- If desired, sprinkle colored sugar or sprinkles on top of the cookies.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
- Make sure the butter is at room temperature for easier mixing.
- You can experiment with different flavors by adding almond extract or lemon zest.
- Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
