Description

A delightful appetizer featuring seared duck breast served on crispy crostini, topped with a sweet and tangy blackcurrant jelly.


Ingredients

  • 2 duck breasts
  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2 inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup blackcurrant jelly
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for brushing
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Season the duck breasts with salt and pepper.
  3. In a skillet, sear the duck breasts skin-side down over medium heat until the skin is crispy, about 6-8 minutes.
  4. Flip the duck breasts and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare.
  5. Remove the duck from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  6. While the duck is resting, brush the baguette slices with olive oil and place them on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake the baguette slices in the oven for about 5-7 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  8. Spread a layer of blackcurrant jelly on each crostini.
  9. Top with slices of seared duck breast.
  10. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve immediately.
