Description

Patty Melts with Secret Sauce are a delicious twist on the classic burger, featuring juicy beef patties, melted cheese, and a unique secret sauce, all sandwiched between perfectly toasted bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 slices of cheese (American or Swiss)
  • 4 slices of bread (rye or sourdough)
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat and sauté the sliced onions until caramelized.
  2. In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to create the secret sauce.
  3. Form the ground beef into patties and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook the patties in the skillet over medium-high heat until browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
  5. Place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover until melted.
  6. Spread the secret sauce on one side of each slice of bread.
  7. Assemble the melts by placing a patty with cheese on a slice of bread, topping it with caramelized onions, and then closing with another slice of bread.
  8. In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter and grill the sandwiches until golden brown on both sides.
  9. Slice in half and serve hot.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the toppings with lettuce, tomato, or pickles.
  • For a spicier kick, add some hot sauce to the secret sauce.
  • These melts can be made with turkey or veggie patties for a different flavor.
