  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 1 baguette, sliced
  • 2 cups shredded Gruyère cheese


Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and sugar, cooking until the onions are caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Pour in the white wine and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Add the beef broth, salt, and pepper, and bring to a simmer.
  5. While the soup simmers, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Place the baguette slices on a baking sheet and toast in the oven until golden brown.
