Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of unsalted butter
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup of chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt


Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add brown sugar, granulated sugar, and sweetened condensed milk. Stir until well combined and bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and salt.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and let it cool completely.
  6. Once cooled, melt the chocolate chips in a microwave or double boiler.
  7. Spread the melted chocolate over the cooled caramel layer.
  8. Sprinkle chopped nuts on top of the chocolate layer.
  9. Let it set in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep fresh.
