Ingredients
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 egg whites
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium heat until the mixture reaches 250°F (hard ball stage).
- While the sugar mixture is cooking, beat the egg whites in a separate bowl until stiff peaks form.
- Once the sugar mixture reaches the desired temperature, slowly pour it into the beaten egg whites while continuing to beat.
- Add vanilla extract and mix until the candy is thick and glossy.
- If desired, fold in chopped nuts.
- Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto wax paper and let them cool completely.
