Deliciously rich brownies with a creamy cream cheese swirl, perfect for Halloween celebrations.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cream cheese mixture)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, melt the butter and mix in the granulated sugar until well combined.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth, then add the powdered sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy.
- Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan, then dollop the cream cheese mixture on top. Swirl with a knife.
- Pour the remaining brownie batter over the cream cheese layer and swirl again.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
- For a festive touch, add Halloween-themed sprinkles on top before baking.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- These brownies can be frozen for up to 3 months.
