Ingredients
- 1 pizza dough
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Fresh thyme for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions, sugar, salt, and pepper.
- Cook the onions, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.
- Add the beef broth to the skillet and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface and transfer it to a pizza stone or baking sheet.
- Spread the caramelized onion mixture evenly over the pizza dough.
- Top with Gruyère and mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh thyme before slicing and serving.

- For a vegetarian version, substitute vegetable broth for beef broth.
