Description

A simple and delicious recipe for Swedish meatballs served with a creamy sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, onion, milk, egg, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. In a large skillet, heat butter over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides.
  4. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  6. Gradually whisk in beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  7. Add heavy cream and return the meatballs to the skillet. Simmer for 10 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.
  8. Serve warm with sauce over the top.

Notes

  • Serve with mashed potatoes or egg noodles for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For a lighter version, use ground turkey instead of beef and pork.
