Description
Cranberry Apple Chutney is a flavorful and tangy condiment that combines the sweetness of apples with the tartness of cranberries, perfect for fall dishes.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh cranberries
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine cranberries, apples, sugar, and apple cider vinegar.
- Add chopped onion, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt to the mixture.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
- Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 20-25 minutes, or until the cranberries burst and the mixture thickens.
- If using, stir in the raisins and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let it cool before transferring to jars.
- Refrigerate for at least 24 hours to allow flavors to meld.
Notes
- This chutney can be served with meats, cheeses, or as a spread on sandwiches.
- It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
