A festive and delicious cheesy pull-apart bread shaped like a Christmas tree, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and Italian seasoning.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the dough and cut it into triangles. Place cheese in the center of each triangle and fold to form a tree shape.
- Arrange the shaped dough on a baking sheet to resemble a Christmas tree.
- Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with additional cheese if desired.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add garlic powder to the dough.
- Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
- Can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
