Description

A delicious and comforting dessert made from stale bread, milk, eggs, and sugar, often flavored with vanilla and spices.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups of stale bread, cubed
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup of raisins (optional)
  • Butter for greasing the baking dish


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread and milk, allowing it to soak for about 10 minutes.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  5. Mix the egg mixture into the soaked bread until well combined.
  6. If using, fold in the raisins.
  7. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted comes out clean.
  9. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes
