Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup hazelnut chocolate spread
- 1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast, let it sit for 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients.
- Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle.
- Spread the hazelnut chocolate spread evenly over the dough.
- Sprinkle chopped hazelnuts on top if using.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut it in half lengthwise.
- Twist the two halves together and place in a greased loaf pan.
- Let it rise again for 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate spread.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
- This recipe can be made ahead and frozen for later use.
