A delightful and festive pull-apart bread shaped like a pumpkin, perfect for autumn gatherings.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup melted butter for brushing
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add melted butter, eggs, pumpkin puree, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls.
- Roll each ball in brown sugar and arrange them in a greased bundt pan to form a pumpkin shape.
- Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brush the top with melted butter and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter bread, add more sugar to the dough.
- Serve warm with butter or cream cheese.
- This bread can be made ahead and frozen, then reheated before serving.
