Description

A delightful and festive pull-apart bread shaped like a pumpkin, perfect for autumn gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter for brushing


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, pumpkin puree, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls.
  7. Roll each ball in brown sugar and arrange them in a greased bundt pan to form a pumpkin shape.
  8. Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  10. Brush the top with melted butter and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter bread, add more sugar to the dough.
  • Serve warm with butter or cream cheese.
  • This bread can be made ahead and frozen, then reheated before serving.
