Delicious and easy-to-make Apple Pie Sugar Cookie Bars that combine the flavors of apple pie with the sweetness of sugar cookies.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups peeled and diced apples
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- In another bowl, toss the diced apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
- Fold the apple mixture into the cookie dough until evenly distributed.
- Spread the dough evenly in the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Allow to cool before drizzling with caramel sauce, if desired.
Notes
- For a more intense apple flavor, use a mix of different apple varieties.
- These bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
