Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Apple Pie Sugar Cookie Bars that combine the flavors of apple pie with the sweetness of sugar cookies.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. In another bowl, toss the diced apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  7. Fold the apple mixture into the cookie dough until evenly distributed.
  8. Spread the dough evenly in the prepared baking pan.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool before drizzling with caramel sauce, if desired.

Notes

  • For a more intense apple flavor, use a mix of different apple varieties.
  • These bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
